Oh dear.

At least Crouch and Rooney cut a comical double gib. They even sound Cannon and Ball-esque.

Joe Cole's goal - jings. Even discounting one of the best goals of the tourney so far, he's England's best player this year.

Can they still do it despite looking more than a bit jittery? Ecuador might not be a diddy team, but with the rub of the green it might be possible to coast to the qf's.

bad day for Michael owen. I bet that hurt. I only wish the Swede knew what he was doing. He gives the impression of having his fingers crossed when he's sitting on the bench, in what they are now disposed to call "the technical area". They ought to beat plucky Ecuador, but who knows? After that, if there is an after that, unless the gods intervene I can't see them getting much further. Hope I'm wrong though. I'd like to see young Theo given a go. He might spice things up a bit.
Yep, throw Theo on. I don't see us getting much further.

Are you three Scottish by any chance?
If not, I may have written a poem called "Archie's Wonder Strike" for little reason. Does that have anything to do with it anyway? I'm an England supporter and love the Premiership, even if there are only four English players in it.
No not Scottish just realists. Mind you I still cling on to the Greece factor. Dull team but won tthe European Championships. No: I would like to see the best team win and I know it's stating the bleedin' obvious, England patently aren't that. Argentina are that at the moment but as someone pointed out, they may have peaked too early. Brazil look like they're slowly coming in to form with a much better display last night. And what about Ronaldo the John Prescott of football: he's overweight, not pretty to look at but managed to score twice - Boom boom!
