Update on Richard's Sis-Susan April 23, 2013
Dear fellow/lady prayer warriors. Your prayers do mean so much to my youngest sister, Susan. I received this e-mail late last night and post Bonita's (oldest sister)full message. It is filled with success and hope---
Susan is out of danger!! For the first time, about a wk & a half ago, Dr Shargall told Patsy that Susan is "Stable"!
She has been moved to what they call, "Step Down".
It's an ICU, but not in the thoracic area & there is no Ventilator in the room.
Right now, Susan is going through a lot, pertaining to her mind! She is showing impatience, which is to be expected, she was very upset with Patsy, last week when she demanded Patsy give her some water. Patsy had to be very firm with her & tell her that she was not being very nice ... Susan can only have those foam sticks soaked in water, No Glass of Water! & the next day, Susan expressed remorse!!
All in all, Susan has had 5 operations; the original 8 hr Biggie, twice when they had to clean up & disinfect the stumps of its fungus & the one where they patched the stump with muscle & then sealed it, the danger being that the fungus could spread to the good lung & that could have been fatal!!
Well, 10 days ago, all of this collapsed! Soooooooooooooooooooooo they went in twice to clean up the mess & disinfect & they decided not to repeat the process. A tube has been placed on her side to drain the infection.
Susan had 5 sessions of Dialysis because her kidneys could not get rid of the antibiotics she's received since Day #1. Good News, no more Dialysis needed!
NOW, a lot is up to Susan!!
She must practice deep breathing to strengthen her only lung left to her, and she is starting physiotherapy to build up her muscles.
Dr Shargall told Patsy that he wants Susan to get in good shape before he attempts PART #2. He mentioned in 2 months!!
That will be another BIGGIE!! A new osophagus & raising the reshaped stomach!!!!!!!!!!!
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo as you can see, Susan must remain in our prayers!
We must pray for Susan to be patient (so easy for us to say such a thing!!), to continue to be strong, disciplined, to have hope ..........................
Love,
Bonita
NB Patsy is now on holidays & she is coming here for a few days for some much needed TLC!! She is very tired, so Bob & I will spoil her as best we can. Then the plan is that we are going to go back with her to Hamilton & spend a few days with Susan.
PS FROM RICHARD---PATSY IS MY YOUNGEST SISTER.
