I read the latest one of these and went back to read the rest. The writing is excellent and i love the way they are not a young couple (as in their twenties), i love the cultural references and the narrators justifications for not wanting to bring a child into this world.
There is a real honesty in this that i think men and women can relate to, and i look forward to more.
Juliet
Thanks for drawing attention to it, Juliet. I, too, read all of them from the beginning. The whole thing's a bit close for comfort with me, too. I can identify with the narrator almost to a T. I still struggle with the mixed feelings it all created.
Look forward to reading more.
I'm finding this uncomfortable reading as well. I keep feeling frustrated with the narrator for not using better contraception, actually (clearly that's not an issue connected with the 'form' of the writing itself). But I'm still wondering what emotional developments are due in the next instalment....
Thanks for flagging this up Juliet. I think it's first of all a fine piece of writing - but in terms of the content I think it's fine for macserp to voice his emotions in quite such a manner - so long as his partner knows he is doing it. He is clearly only telling us what he is telling her - and that only adds to the raw edge of human understanding. I want to know what happens next!
Up to Day 13 and still enjoying. I love the encounter with April and Destiny in Jon's Market:

I'm right there on your wavelength, Mac.
I'm 25 but I still really sympathize with the journal. Day 13 is particularly excellent.
I can't tell though, are these being posted as they are being written? I ask because the election was a couple months ago. If that is the case then I'm guessing all of this has come to some kind of resolution. Also if that is the case, it would be interesting, after Macserp finishes posting all of these journals, to read what he thinks about when he reads over the journal.
