Douglas Coupland

i just finished reading All Families are Psychotic by coupland.. and i am reviewing it for the magazine where i work... and i took a look at some of the reviews on the net and they weren't very nice.. all going on about how in comparison to the rest of his work it was a disappointing novel. now i havent read anything else by Coupland so i was just curious.. is that a fair criticism?

any opinions?

How odd, I have just STARTED reading this nancy. should i continue? It seems a trifle bitty, though there are some excellently observed sentences...

hahaha.. very good impersonation of my mother :) Liana... i really liked it personally.. there were some parts where i just had to stop and say this is just way too unbelievable.. but it is a novel after all... anyway i really really liked it and would recommend it to anyone.. it's an entertaining read...

I really, really like 'Microserfs', it always reminded me of a more sedate 'American Psycho', there's a definate overlap of subject and concerns. Both are about emptiness, complete emptiness. Is 'All Families are..." about emptiness too?

i wouldnt really say it's about emptiness Mark.. more about relationships in a dysfunctional family.. it's like he's making a commentary on the lack of family values today.. at least that's my take on it..
