i see stormy in the recently pasted says that excerpts should be banned ... i am not sure they should be entirely banned because i use them to save a click ... i can usually tell within words if i am going to take the time to read the rest of the piece ...
but i do think a word limit would be good because some of them are ridiculously long ...
what say you lot?

I agree - I like a little bit - but some add far too much. I do edit them down when I have the time but it's probably not the best use of my resources!

I also agree. I read a few lines and if it grabs my attention i go with it. If its too long, I just give up. Why go to the next screen if the whole poem or story is already in the exerpt box? I think a tiny bit makes a piece intriging.

Quite a few of my works from older versions of the site were entered in their entirity in the exerpts box automatically without my realising. Maybe this is a recurring problem? Wouldn't account for the recently added pages though.
