A Second Million Dollars?

I have been following this story since it broke out in September 2005 (about 4 months). See the blog if you are unfamiliar with this story.

He got to a Million Dollars before the New Year.

Auctioning the final 1000 Dollar Block on Ebay (which he held back) is sheer marketing brilliance. It is currently up to $6300 after less than 24 hours with 10 days in all to go.

Any estimates as to how high it will get?

The amount of publicity the buyers will get will be enormous and I imagine some pretty big corporate will be vying for this one. I will stick my neck out and say £100,000. Any guesses?

Happy New Year David I am glad to be back. Will visit more often, time allowing. The site looks great!
The British are ambivalent about 'spin' and try and shy away from it, but the point is it works! and How! The biggest mistake you can make about spin is assume it is all froth and no substance - the truth is there is a real science behind why these stategies work and they go to the core of being human. Look at David Cameron and the impact he has had in such a short time, a spinmeister if ever I saw one. He figured (rightly so) that rather than attack Blair on the basis that he was unpopular (Ken Clarkes tactical error) he would outspin him, and it seems to be working. Gordon must be worried! The good news is that there is ample scientific information now about how to counter those that seek to overtly manipulate others too their ends (the No Free Will thread alludes to some of that). I recommend this book by DR Robert Cialdini (4th edition), which I wish I had read 25 years ago. If you are going to purchase it, Support ABC by purchasing it through a link from the homepage.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0688128165/102-7260570-9949723?v=glance... Here is an interview by Cialni which gives some information about his work: http://ucsub.colorado.edu/~schwartb/booknotes/Cialdini_interview.html I am sure it would have change my life had I read and understood it back then.
Had a quick look at Ebay (search "milliondollarhomepage") and.... The bidding currently stands at $25,322.22... on day 4 out of 10 What price 'instant worldwhide internet publicity'? There is something pretty amazing at work here... Any thoughts on what?
Try clicking on '777' on the www.milliondollarhomepage.com for a little surprise... Approx middle spot of Top quarter, LHS...
I had to go back several times to search for the 777. I finally found it and thought I had miss-clicked. Indeed a nice surprise. Have to ask, how did you find it?
That's brilliant Gerry! ABCtales is now part of internet history! Let's just hope we can manage to keep things going without BECOMING internet history! Nice stuff, Cheers, Mark Brown, Editor (on leave), www.ABCtales.com

Just checked his latest blog entry and it is at $160,109.09 http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/blog.php Surprise, surprise he has deffered his University Degree 'for a year'. Good on him. This is it appears for a 1000 pixel block about a cm across on a homepage, of course it is for a lot more... Care to speculate what this all means in a wider context? e.g what this says about 'value' in our world?
Gerry - thanks so much for doing that. We are now getting around 80 referrals per day from that 777 button - so loads of new people are finding ABCtales through it. Thankyou.
