Difficult Task

...to select your top three pieces EVER on abctales. Sooo difficult

But I go for

Moth by Fish
http://www.abctales.com/node/526420

so delicate and haunting and full of need

and

Sea poem by Emily Hamblin would be my next choice - I know rhyming poetry isn't fashionable but I like what I like because I just like it but sadly she's no longer a member...

I'm thinking about my next two choices carefully!

Second choice is Camden Cemetry by Ely http://www.abctales.com/node/509481 As Eddie Gibbons said once, 'the acid test of a good poem is - I wish I'd wrtitten that' ...one more hmmmm

Sorry and I suppose I had better explain why I like it. I'm not very good at this - I don't have 'interesting tights' syndome and as I've revealed in my defence many times before, I'm a scientist. Ely's poem communicates (to me anyway) something simple and universally understood - life pulses but place remains. Even so, I get an almost desperate sense of the tenacity of life ... that may well be rubbish but beyond any clever critique my reason for loving poetry is exactly the same as it was when I picked up my first poetry book over twenty years ago - I love the sound of words, strung together like a melody. Noone can really objectively explain why they like a tune - notes hung together in a certain way. Here are some of my faves from this piece; "My time in the city is gone I never had to move this fast to find a space To chase my precious moments where they led." In fact that whole bit (stanza, whatever - I'm ignorant!) is really beautiful.

Hmm. The reason I haven't responded to this thread yet, Jude, is that it's not just difficult, but downright impossible for me to pick absolute favourites from the site. Don't know if anyone else feels the same.
A very difficult task but only because my favourite poem has disappeared with the missing 'L'. Here are the three stories that have remained my favourites for some time, two of them were sent to me to read before I became a member, the other was also a recommendation. I have posted these on a favourites thread before, but they are always worth a read. 'Satchel' By Andrew Pack. http://www.abctales.com/node/501378 'The Bolshy Princess' By fuschia. http://www.abctales.com/node/511738 'My Brother Sebastian' by Enzo. http://www.abctales.com/node/502666
1) Paying the Bills by Primate 2) There's a Fat Bird on my Sofa by Primate 3) Village Boy by David Ritchie 4) The Magnolia Tree by Barry Wood 5) The Last Goodbye by Auntie Jackie Those are my top three.

Yeah, his talent makes me sick. Yours too. What the hell, I hate the lot of you. Enzo.. www.thedevilbetweenus.com PS I didn't mean the bit about hate.
And the ever talented Rokkitnite gets my third and final vote with 'Werner Herzog Helped Joaquin Phoenix From a Car Wreck' Just pure brilliance - When I read the news story about 'Werner Herzog Helping Joaquin Phoenix From a Car Wreck' the poem just got even better...
