This is ridiculous,
Ag you are being just as antagonistic as celery if not more so given your recent track record. I'm sorry I really don't want to step into an argument but Archer you really must question why it is that so many problems follow you round. Now I *know* that everyone gets the 'wrong end of the stick' now and then and tone in threads can be misinterpreted, but if you read back over many of your posts you do seem to wind people up by treating them like idiots with little brain power, and jump on people for having a differing opinion to your own. You also seem unable to just let something go, surely as an editor on the site you should be above all this and just step away, (I know that if I were a new user I would run a mile when I saw your name on the front page after reading some of your posts)...I am sure you will find that you would be *got at* less if you did!
Is this petty bickering ever going to stop? I thought it was over the other week, change your names or whatever, just give it a break will you instead of dragginbg decent forums into oblivion.
What's the history of abc tales? Tony Cooke, Gordon Roddick and John Bird thought I'll set up a site where people can have petty squabbles. No it was to give people a place to display their writing, and judging by the individuals involved ethos I doubt it was for showing of bravado and interlectual skill in a debate.
Celery soup, 'well tell her as well Tony' what's all that about. Yeah I changed my name lately, but for good reasons, none I'm prepared to talk about now, but trust me they weren't childish ones like your own. The fact that you felt the need to keep referring to my old name in another thread would imply that you should never have been an editor or had those editorial powers of trust ever. Now fucking grow up and stop ruining decent threads with petty bickering.

I see...so, making one error of judgment in terms of editing powers, is a 'track record', and disregarding the posts of a particular member who is consistently aggressive toward me is suddenly 'antagonistic'. And although I don't call anyone names, I treat everyone else like an idiot. Hmmm.
I wasn't aware that I am the only one who is not allowed to debate or disagree with other posters, camus, thanks for pointing out that this is actually JUMPING ON people. I ALSO wasn't aware that it's not allowable for me to 'pop back and forth' between reading/editing and posting on the Gen Diss. Thanks so much for letting me know! I will from now on do either one or the other, according to the general consensus of what volunteer editors are supposed to do. Neither will I debate with anyone, EVER, should I happen to have an opinion that differs with the majority.
Tony, why didn't you tell me I'm not supposed to do any of this?
I'm really let down. Very disappointed.
I changed my name too. And for good reasons that I won't discuss as well, because I'm insecure and well, quite frankly, I don't think you'd understand and besides it would open me to ridicule and make my self esteem bad. I’m thinking of changing it again though, I think some of you figured out who I am and that really bothers me, particularly when people refer to me with my old name…and besides all that, I didn’t really like my name…it’s too confusing for others…they keep misspelling it and once I had to stand in line for over an hour and when I got to the counter I found out I was in the wrong line and had to go stand in another line instead…then when they called my name, they used my old name and complained about me not having the right name after I waited in line for another hour.
Archer, you prove my point over and over.
In defence of my post I certainly did not say that you shouldn't debate, simply that you shouldn't steamroller everyone else's opinion, and i think we both know that I was referring to more than a simple editing error, I was just not prepared to drag everything out again as there is very little point, people are gone, it's over.
Now this is me look, had my say without responding to every single post on here....stepping away!
I didn't realise he was being sarcastic, I actually felt for him, thought it maybe down to childhood abuse or somewhat. No I changed mine cause it was a piss take name, something I call people as a laugh and someone googled the name. I do have kids, but not in the same way as RD, I mean I have concieved two children who I keep well apart from my writing. Low self-esteem, no I leave that to those who feel the need to try and make themselves feel better at the expense of others.

camus, you only pop in to say anything to me when it's a reprimand for some apparent 'error' I've made, and the people who left clearly had other issues besides my 'track record'. I would suggest that it's these persons who have trouble with healthy debates, which is what this forum is ostensibly for, and which is what I do. I'm sorry if you feel that having an opinion and perhaps some experience to back it up (and occasionally not!) is 'steamrolling' people...? If everyone on the site was complaining to Tony about my behaviour, or if Tony had to come on here to chide me for being rude, I would certainly take note. As it is, it is a repeatable, predictable minority of folk who have issues with me, and I can live with that.
And now, I am off to Spain for a niiiice looong break in the sun and warmth. Kisses to everyone. xx
Tony only chides when he's asked to do so.
I wouldn't say that you aren't allowed to have a differing opinion. You just batter opposers until they dont have any breath left to debate with you, thats all. You never stop doing it. Then, if you feel like you need to force more evidence as to how you are right, you pull a job out of the hat to back you up. You do call people names. Yesterday, you called me spiteful, and nasty. I can live with it, that's ok, but it's hardly just to portray yourself as an angel. You snark everytime someone disagrees with you, then you start calling them icy endearments, like dearie. It's patronising and confusing and not much fun for anyone. You never listen to anyone, because you -always- know best, even when a general consensus is of a different mind, you do it.
You insult people and their likes and dislikes, a significant proportion of the time. It's true. If me being on your back yesterday for a handful of posts annoyed you, then its about a tenth of how half a dozen people feel when they see you carping on for the fiftieth time as to how everyone else's opinion is rubbish! The only thing missing from the begining of most of your posts is the sound of someone clapping briskly and saying "Come along children, listen to me, Nanny knows best!" Do you see what I mean? At all?
You know what I'd like to see you say? "Wow, I didn't know that" or, "That's an interesting opinion, I'll think about that for a while". I'd like it.
Have a good holiday. Relax a bit.
No one has a problem with healthy debate! We're all still doing it - that's half the bloody problem. For my part - it's not people having differing opinions that gets my dander up, but being patronised in the process, it drives me crazy! Might not seem like much, but it does. And then when other people have the obvious explained to them, that drives me crazy too. It's the assumption of dimwittedness.. it's ... it's ...
*searches desk drawer for fags*. But I've said all this before. So I'm going to go chill now - with a large frosted glass of something...
d'ya want me to proof read it for you, am good at that...I can also ensure that you don't get into big trouble for stealing someone elses idea, I'll only charge a pittance...(well fags have gone up you know)
Ah sytx, how your pseudo-intellectualism makes me laugh. As non-sequiturs go, that has to be the best.
No, don't tell me, you think I'm jasper, right?
Or am I Celery-soup? Perhaps I am Mykle - notice how he is always about in times of strife, sending out his bilious emails to the thick and impressionable?
Or am I Radio Denver sans gut and shades and mis-guided arrogance?
Perhaps I am Archergrowl? Er, no, forget that. Even I'm not *that* stupid.
Chill out Styx, have another gallon of cider.
It may well be quieter without the twat but there's a distinct difference between Beethoven's Fifth and Y Viva Espana. She is probably getting shit-faced to the latter.
