Hugo Williams
I read an article about hugo williams the poet, in the guardian a few weeks ago, he seemed very interesting so I ordered a couple of his books, "dear room" and "billy's rain", he is utterly fab, and i realised that unconciously i had aped his style in some of my writing, anyone else read him?
Yeah, I like the Hugomeister. He has a nice turn of phrase - not too showy - and manages to tease out some quietly moving poems. He can sometimes be a bit too sleepy and controlled for my taste, but I like him and he reads very well. The only book of his I own is Dock leaves but I hear "Dear Room" is ace.
