I've been trying to figure out what it is I like so much about this poem. The voice is lovely and gentle, while talking about things that you suspect aren't quite so gentle and calm. There are some lovely images, and turns of phrase.

"And I can't get that bottle of wine open.

If I had your swiss knife
and arms
maybe I could."

I love the stanza that starts by talking about X&Y, I love the last lines. I wonder if it's maybe a little bit long, there's so much good stuff in it, maybe it would have more of an impact if it was more concentrated. Thanks for a great read though nancy, am going to go and read more of your stuff!

Argh, I knew that would happen! Spent too long writing it and Tony got there first. How do I delete mine? I'm sure it's very simple but I can't see right now how to do it...
it deserves two flags! The observations in this are wonderfully honest, yet the voice is somehow contained. You can almost hear how the narrator expects it to be recieved. Juliet

And do go and read more of nancy's wonderful poetry - she is a gem!
