In Italy...

Landed Saturday moring - a week in Siena and then we fly down for a week with Fulvia's parents in Calabria. Flight went well, Emma was fine, but not as fine as when she was only a few months - for this trip, i feel like i walked to Rome, as in up and down the ailes, and I'm sure any of you who've flown with children know what I mean.

Siena seems the same, all my friends are doing exactly what they were doing when I left, and just as happy to be doing it. Anyway, back stateside on 10 march, but not much thinking about that right now.

take care, everyone.

Enjoy Sienna - although you will miss the Prado! But do take in the Cathedral - it's stupendous. Get over for a day in Lucca if you can - it's a wonderful little walled city that has retained its medieval air and is not overtaken by hordes of tourists. I adore Italy and most things Italian - it's my favourite country of them all (just pipping India). How do they react to Yanks? Have a bottle of Nobile de Montepulciano for me.
Oh, yes, well, a trip to Italy is alright for SOME!! *glares enviously*

Thanks for the well wishes. Yes, I went from beingt five hours ahead to one hour behind - I nearly got whiplash passing over London. Siena was great - yes, I missed the Palio, but I caught it once when I lived there, and then signed a petition to stop it - a horse died right on the track! It's a brutal race, but they've been doing it for hundreds of years and I'm sure it'll go on. We're in Calabria now, at my in-laws. One of the best things about being here was being reunited with my car, a 1972 Fiat 500 - my father-in-law has been keeping it for me. I love this car as much as any I've ever owned - so I'm off for a drive...
