Guess what - ThoughtCafe is back...

Hopefully the folks at ABCTales won't be too annoyed about this post - I can't see ThoughtCafe being a threat to ABCTales, but you never know...

So... ThoughtCafe is back! After a break from the internet for several years, the creative writing website has re-launched, and is ready to start re-building the once famous community of writers, poets, novelists, and essayists.

The URL is http://www.thoughtcafe.net

If you have never heard of ThoughtCafe, it is (and was - once upon a time) a community website for writers of all descriptions to post their work and receive feedback. In return it is hoped they will cast their eye over other people's work and give their thoughts.

If you like to read or write short stories, poetry, essays, songs or any other form of creative writing, ThoughtCafe provides you with the chance to canvas the opinion of like minded people who are also trying to improve, and seeking feedback. If you have been published, or are looking to get published, ThoughtCafe provides forums to discuss your hopes and experiences.

The main driver behind ThoughtCafe is to foster community - to let beginning writers pick the brains of those with more experience, and the experienced writers to share pearls of wisdom.

If you have some spare time drop by the site - it's under heavy development, but the basics are there already.

Looks a bit like this one. With a sprinkling of UKA. Can't be a bad thing...
I always liked thoughtcafe in its original form - I just hope that they give us a link back to us as well as use here to publicise themselves. See what a nice man I am!
I will no doubt be popping over there, so i will shout the odds and take a link with me when I go.
It looks like a blog. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

Does look very much like this place.

Kind of like a cross between this place and a blog...
It looks like ABCTales at the moment because both are based on the same content management engine - Drupal. Drupal is open source, and provides the foundations for the site - whereas the first version of ThoughtCafe was custom written, I thought "why re-invent the wheel" this time. I have got perhaps a slight advantage in that I'm a professional web developer, so development costs are zero :) I will be adding a resources section over the next few weeks and will put huge adverts in for the big writing sites out on the net - ABCTales among them (ABCTales published my other half's poem once upon a time). I'll also be starting up the newsletter again, and will hopefully interview some of the people who run other writing sites.
what a blast from the past, i will check it out!
Me too

Just wanted to let you all know that ThoughtCafe now does Usergroups too - meaning you can create mini writing groups within the main website - each with their own forums and story archives...

It's looking great, I must say.

I have to say I preferred the old site's design and layout. This one looks just like a blog to me.
