Editing on new ABC

Apart from the double-spacing thing, though that's not too much of a problem as it gets there in the end, I'm having problems editing.  The only way it seems to work is by deleting the whole thing and starting from scratch - then it tells me it's already been edited.  As I'm typing this I can't get to a new para - doesn't want me pressing enter - perhaps it's me.  Now I can't get rid of italics..........it's definitely me!!  GO AWAY ITALICS and come back paragraphs.....eek.
