ABCtales Reading in London 26/03/14

The next London get-together is right around the corner– yes, that’s right! ABCtales will be descending on the Wheatsheaf in Bloomsbury for another night of reading and raucous good fun on March 26. Readings will start from 7pm on March 26 upstairs at the Wheatsheaf (25 Rathbone Place, W1T 1JB).

We’ve got a few very talented writers and poets already lined up to perform – including Stan, Bee, Akinba and (provisionally) TFH and BarelyBlackFrancis.

If you’d like to join the roster, let me know as soon as possible. All readers will have about 6-8 minutes to wow, dazzle, or just casually try some stuff out on the crowd. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, and we always encourage people new to reading. It's good fun and incredible value for the level of entertainment - we ask attendees make a £5 donation to our charity of choice, The Railway Children.

In addition, Samuel Aina’s just published his first book – The Rolls Royce of Poverty and other Stories- all of which have previously appeared on ABC – and he will be there with copies to auction for the charity.

I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of you there – it’s bound to be a fantastic evening!

Luke

Luke, the line-up is awesome. If you can squish me in for 5 minutes, yes please I would love to read. Early in the evening is much the best for me as I need to get away around 9pm to stop over with my parents who are both over 80.

It always comes round on my week of late shifts otherwise I would've loved to have gone. Not sure I would have the courage to read though.

I'll put you down for a slot, Elsie. We should also have the president of the Queen Mary Literature Society reading - so some new faces!

And Grover, we'll half to keep trying till we find a date you can make it to. Would love to hear you do a reading!

Luke

Hi Luke, I'll be there and would love to read. My only problem is that i come back from Spain that very day. I'm due to land around midday. So as long as Easyjet do what they say, I'll be there.

If Joe reads I'll read then .... if there's a spare slot

What a fantastic response for this evening - so much so that we've already maxed out our list of readers.

At last count we have:

Stan

Bee

Akinba

TFH

BarelyBlackFrancis

Rhiannonw

Robert of QMU

Aidan Cottrell-Boyce

Joe

Elsie

Karl

This is bound to be a great event - lots of new voices that I'm very excited to hear from, and a few tried and true (and excellent) writers whom I can never get enough of. Really can't wait for this.

Could we have photos of the participants here or on Facebook for us northeners.

Will do, Luigi - I'm bringing my camera along this time!

This may be the first ABCtales evening I miss in a long time. I'd love to be there but I've been very ill lately and it will all depend on how much better I am feeling and what state things are in here - I'm VERY behind on almost every count of all the numerous things I am involved in. I will do my best but I make no promises. I know it'll be a cracker so do get along if you can.

xx

Tony

When is the next one?

London based author, when I'm not writing I spend my time teaching and being a rock star.

After next Wednesday, our next planned meeting is in London on June the 18th.

I'd love to get involved in the June one if it were possible

London based author, when I'm not writing I spend my time teaching and being a rock star.

That's great Daniel - I'll be in touch closer to the date and we'll be sure to have you reading!

Thanks everyone for an incredible evening! It was a lot of fun. The calibre of the readings was among the highest I've heard, we had a great turnout and managed to raise 135£ for The Railway Children. Be sure to mark the 18th of June off your calendars for our next one - and pictures to come as soon as I can get them off my phone!

i might try and get along to the next one too, hope you're feeling better Tony.
