Best American Mystery Stories
I’ve almost finished working my way through ‘The Best American Mystery Stories’, edited by Donald E Westlake. He says ‘A good short story is a jewel in miniature, as concise and carefully wrought as a fine watch…’ This book contains a few Timexs but most are TAGs and there’re a least two jewel-encrusted Rolexes. Well worth devoting a little time to.
If ur interested - in October 'Death Comes Easy -The Gay Times Book of Murder Stories' is out. I'm in it. Plug Plug.
The best american mystery stories have to be scoobey doo :-)
I've just about finished a little book of Raymond Chandler's short stories called Dnager is My Business. I think he wrote these before he developed the Marlowe character, as each story features a different detective/protagonist. This is probably not his best stuff, but it's still pretty good.
I like Dashielle Hammet's Continental Op stories, usually available in a collection called The Big Knockover. Now this is cool stuff indeed.
