Waiting for Godalming - Robert Rankin

Robert Rankin performed at one of the earlier ABCtales live events. At The Asylum. Nice bloke. Never managed to get all the way through one of his books though. Don't think that's a reflection on him, I hate almost all comic novels.

He's a very good friend of mine - hence his appearance at an ABCtales night. We went to see The Muffin Men together in May (we're both Zappa fanatics) and got chatting to Jimmy Carl Black. He was getting bored of our adoration so he asked Rob what he did. He told him he was a writer and was asked his name. Jimmy screeched, jumped up, ran back into the dressing room and came back with one of Rob's books which he then asked him to sign. It was mutual adoration all round but things got a little bleary later on and I can't remember much more. Ho Hum. It tends to go like that on nights out with the insane Rankin. I must confess that I do occasionally read his books and I always enjoy them when I do but they're not really my thing so he must be doing well to keep me reading!

well I'd never read anything by him before but shall investigate further after reading this one. a joy to read.
