simon warner's tales
I recommend you to read Servant and Craving..I just did and loved 'em
I agree with you, Kimwest. I'd also recommend Simon Warner's tales. Servant was terrific. Simon is a talented writer and a very cool guy.
Yes, I've read them too, and agree with you both.
Blimey - stop, please! I'm turning crimson here, and believe me, the colour doesn't suit me at all. Does anyone have any ice? I'm burning up here!
Thanks muchly for the comments, which I'm frankly amazed at - though gratefully received of course! It means a great deal, so thanks. :)
*It's amazing what a tenner in the post can achieve (or in Barry's case, 20 dollars). Bribery gets you everywhere!*
Anyway, enough about me - the three writers whose kind comments are printed above are three highly respected writers (there are others, of course!) on this website and, having read much of their respective work, I can heartily and genuinely recommend it to anyone new to ABCtales.
There - favour repaid?????
Actually, just had an idea - ought there to be a page where recommended stories and poems could appear? I guess there's some room for abuse of such a system (unless anyone smart can think of a way of making it abuse-proof), but it would be nice to see what people really recommend rather than simply what they've clicked on.
The "times read" listing works to an extent, but then older pieces are going to appear popular simply because they have been viewed more often. Also, there's an obvious tendency to think, "wow, that story's been viewed 1000 times, it must be good!", in which case a real stinker could end up top of the list by virtue of this "blind clicking".
Newer pieces of work tend to be lost in the vast ocean (7000 and growing) of pieces on the site, so drawing a gem to everyone's attention by highlighting it in some way would be great! Kind of like a "story of the day" with everyone choosing! Isn't democracy a beautiful thing? :)
Does that light anyone's fire? Or am I rubbing my stick on a pile of wet leaves here (hmm, that sounded a little bit rude, didn't it?).
Simon.....
