this is compeltely off the wall but a compelling read. The beach scene is so vivid i could smell the salty seaweed. Not sure about the epilogue, seems a bit rushed, but as this is apparently part of a larger piece (novel) then i am sure it will be revisited and refined over time.
I really enjoyed its kookiness and the images of the turtle and seagull really work. The poetry discussions between the two sisters are really insightful but i think a reader would need some basic understanding of poetic form to not get lost. Sort of like read Stephen Fry before reading this.
Great idea
Juliet
Great. Enjoyed this.
"Smoking like the International War Room" is great.
The dog like a wet cannonball, too.
The epilogue does feel a bit out of place here. Perhaps, in the context of the book, you could just end the chapter on a semi-cliff-hanger - Sian being taken away by the cops.
Then when you start the scenes with her in jail, we will find out what has happened. Leaves a bit of suspense, innit.
Ta!

Cheers, guys. The ending was indeed rather rushed - I got a bit fed up with it, and will have to go back after I've refreshed. Good pointers!
I really enjoyed the inventiveness and the whacky surrealism.
I found the image of the boss seagull both hilarious and haunting...
but then I spend a lot of time on the beach.
