Internet TV

As some of you know, I have been trying to set up an internet TV station for the past year. I have had discussions with various groups about possible projects, without success, until now. Finally, I have met with a couple of organisations who want to collaborate on a local internet TV station for an area of London.

My question is what sort of content - if any - would get you watching local internet TV? Local News, "what's on" guides, videos by local bands, short independent films? While we want to incorporate a lot of user made content, we're not looking to be a smaller version of youtube; no clips of cats flushing toilets or crashing skateboarders.

Any Ideas?

Seriously, I would like to, some day, some where, find a television station that broadcasts GOOD news - people being successful, people helping one another, brave and selfless rescues of people and animals during disasters, that sort of stuff. There is too much sad, depressing, demoralising 'news' broadcast nowdays, because the people in charge think that's what 'sells'. But what about happiness and happy things? It doesn't matter if the subject is something mundane, like Mr. Heebles helping Mrs. Hoopster up off the pavement after she's fallen; people *need* to see that good stuff still happens, all the time, every day, all over the world. Other than that, I'd like to see pictures of naked professional footballers.

You, naked save a pair of tartan slippers Seriously, I think the problem is than many modern urbanites do not have a sense of 'place' I do perhaps more in Southwark but when I lived in Clapton, I never read the local paper or had any interest in local affairs. I worked and socialised in the west end and this was just where I lived because I could afford it. As far as I was concerned, 'local' news was drug dealers shooting each other and so what. In Southwark, I still have that feeling but also there is a sense of locality. I read this site often http://www.london-se1.co.uk/ I would watch an Internet TV channel very much covering some of the stuff I read about here - events on the South Bank, Southwark poetry partnership, news from borough market etc. What I would NOT watch are stories about poor Mrs X who can't get a wheelchair ramp from the council for her disabled son. Blah blah blah shot dead. School faces closure blah blah bore. jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net

Events and gig listings are likely to be on the menu. The naked slipper collection will be subscription only - all major credit cards accepted.
Live, homegrown talent (music, comedy, dramatics). Quick, snappy (60 second-ish) news. In-depth analysis. Comparative analysis, ie: how this little area is affected/reacts or is impacted by larger scale issues. Keep the shortcuts to the nightscereen. Presenters/hosts with personality!! Personalityyy! A night on the town rounding-up the scum with local bobbies. celeb guest appearances...ooo...next big brother....you could get them to appear...that might be nice. Don't let the samaritans drill you with their community news crap....you'll end up down creek like all the others. And other stuff. Pub and club game shows. And lots of sex, involving local girls.
