Looking After Mum by CastlesInTheSky

This is the most extraordinary piece of writing by a 13 year old that I have ever encountered. I read it straight through from beginning to end. It has an excellent plot, it's well written, it's gripping and the central character is superbly portrayed. I think we have unearthed a prodigy:

Thankyou so much, to the person who posted this, I would never have thought my work would be good enough to be cherrypicked and it is so encouraging to hear you say this. Thankyou. Sarah --Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.

Brilliant, what can you say, 13 years old, deffo didn't go to a state school anyway. Get yourself an agent! Craig
Thankyou Craig. I will. Sarah xxx P.S: I do actually go to a state school. =)

You went to state school, damn I'm fast running out of excuses. Seriously though, you should contact a few of the published authors on the site for advice agent wise, and best of luck. Craig
Interesting story indeed. You have the talent, maybe you can come up with a bestseller one day. Good luck. Gouri.

Very good writing and an enjoyable read, well done! Having told us you're thirteen, and having read this as an autobiographical tale, I was confused when I read this: Part III: Chapter 20 It is the present time now, of course – the real present. If you can do your maths ok – even I can work this one out – you’ll have realised I’m sixteen now.

Thankyou Photon, Oh it wasn't a autobiographical tale, I just wrote it in the style of one. Sarah

Enjoyable. I read it all the way through without stopping. I think we may have another prodigy on our hands =). --Lisa.

Let your dreams take you where they may, and always follow them.
~Lisa.

I'm feeling jelous now. always figured I was up top on the talented younger generation of this site (just my vanity don't mind it), but castles really gives all writers, young and old, a run for their money. great work man.

Give me the beat boys and free my soul! I wanna getta lost in ya rock n' roll and drift away. Drift away...

Thanks everyone . I'm not really a prodigy, Lisa (: I'm sure there's a lot to improve on, which is what I'm working on at the moment. Sarah

Hello Just wanted to sort out that bold thing. Yes, and I'm also the kind of person who straightens pictures in other poeple's houses. So what?
Biggus, it was a joke, But saying that the good folk of Surrey have the advantage of their state schools being more like public schools anyway. Craig
I think it is you doing the strio (c) typing with your talk of top hats and stock brokers. Much like your poetry. I have visited Surrey many times and the state services such as schools and hospitals are much better equipped than most places in the UK, or have you never left the place. Craig
You are a heap of contradictions biggus, off topic with the poetry remark, you're the one who pulled it off topic with your view on my comment on public schools. This was a thread on discussing the merits of a young persons writing, and on how good it was for her age, that you seemed to have hijacked. Judging by your response and spelling I'd have to cede Surrey schools are the same as the rest of the nation. Mind reading and assumption on what people mean don't qualify, lucky for you or you'd get a U. Only kidding, it's probably your age, I find that with older Surrey people, they phone into radio 5 live and debate something the studio guests haven't even talked about. Fact. The schools etc. there are better, don't take it as an insult, you're lucky. Maybe it's a generation thing, I dunno, but when I said about deffo didn't go to state school I was actually mocking the ideals of your age group, funny how you're the only one who took umbrage. Your idea of the perceptions of Surrey are as outdated as your public toilet humour, (guess that's the only places you've visited). Also your views on how how people view Surrey inhabitants are rather outdated, I thought it was all aged rock stars and retired politicians and people who's answer to whatever the question is, is 'PC gone mad!' Just out of interest what do you know about school standards and NHS? Very little judging by your response. Sorry Castles Biggus rarely talks on the boards, (obvious reasons), and this should be a chat about your writing. You'll have to be patient with us, you're probably more mature.
Ah, that's fine, no offense was taken. Thankyou both for your compliments. Edited out the bold.

Should do the trick.
This is meant to be a thread about the remarkable work of a young woman - not a bickering match between grown men. Pack it in.
i miss the bold... it brought life to the squabbling arguements.
