Bloody good and honest and should have a lot more attention, or maybe it's just me.
I wouldn't say I'm enjoying it, but I am hooked. Just hope it will have a happy ending.
With the wide range of ages and life experiences maybe abc could help.
Maybe people could give their own experiences of such matters, whether as the parent or the child.

Well as the child of divorce I spent a lot of time blaming my parents for my pain and confusion. Wasted time in hindsight but that's another story, as they say. With respect to Sooz who has been good enough to share her experiences with us I'd say she is a good writer. But it's non-fiction and there's a limit to how involved I want to get in someone else's marital problems.
Sooz has been writing these brilliantly honest and brutally frank diaries for some years. Believe you me this current crisis pales in comparison with some of what has gone before. The details of her stomach stapling take some beating! She's a fine and wonderful writer who tells it as it is. It's a treat for all of us to have such a frank look into her life.
My previous comment wasn't very well phrased. I was responding to Moimo's suggestion. I enjoy reading Sooz' journal. I just find it difficult to discuss...perhaps because she is so honest about her personal life. I don't have her courage so I hide behind fiction.
I was talking about Sooz' problems with her son's drug use, not getting involved in her life per se. I for one have much experience in this field and nowadays work with people's children who are going down the wrong path as it were. It pains me to see youngsters in that position. Funnily enough the parents of these youngsters are relieved to get some advice as they often don't know what's going and are expecting the worst. For what it's worth, though I don't know the ins and outs Marty I feel will be okay, but it's frightening for a parent in that position. Craig
Yes my sympathies are with the kids too. As for drugs I think most kids experiment with them these days. It's almost a normal part of growing up. Or a way of escaping reality. The question is do they get through it OK or is it part of a slippery slope. I have my fingers crossed for Marty.
