Book ready to go - Just no ideas which way to turn! Help!

Hi there...

I have been writing my short stories for about a year now and started posting some on here for some feedback.

I have had some interest through cold calling publishers but nothing that has led to anything so far.

I am at the point of considering self publishing but don't want to make a big mistake. I have contacted Authorhouse UK and the sales patter all sounds wonderful but I wondered if some of you might have some experience of this and could offer some advice.

It's a children's book - 12 short stories for primary age children. Not illustrated but not really thinking of adding anything more than a cartoon for each story heading.

About 29000 words in this collection.

Many more stories ready if there was any interest.

Any thoughts gratefully received

David

Well, my thought is forget Authorhouse, an author mill which will cost you a fortune for nothing. Check out Lulu (http://www.lulu.com) (free) and/or try small Indies. http://www.ukauthors.com
Thanks for that - I had heard good things about lulu and it was definitely my impression that authorhouse make a lot of promises without even reading a scrap of anything I've done. Appreciate your input. David
If you would like to self-publish perhaps also look into ebook publishing. Some self-publishing places will let you sell ebooks yourself or through an online self-publisher while they sell the same book in print.
Fatwad, check out Lulu as Andrea has suggested. I have since January published seven books with them. It is free to do and not so compilcated. You only pay to purchase your own books and at a discounted price. After five or six weeks your books will be advertised on Amazon. You even set your own price and royalty. I too was suspicious, but Lulu I believe is exceptional. I have received my first pay cheque from them, and even though it was in US dollars, the payment went through no problem. Hope this helped.

Thank you - Lulu sounds great - I'll look into it and the ebook route seems a good place to start.. David
Just to say that I did follow the advice on here and have published 'Crumble Tales' through Lulu. It was a painless process and the book is now on iTunes and nook for £1.99. Any reviews would be very gratefully received. Many thanks David
