I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

Heh - sorry about the juvenile humour! I'm just a big kid really.

So, I just had an idea (ta-da!) - excuse me if someone's already suggested it.

The critiquing service is a great idea, but I haven't tried it myself yet nor have I critiqued anyone else (yes, my conscience aches with guilt).

I don't know why I haven't tried it, really. Perhaps I just figure that everyone else will be getting their work critiqued and there will be a long queue before mine comes up. Or perhaps I think that no-one will comment on my work anyway. Or perhaps I'm a lazy so-and-so (nah.....).

So I set to thinking about this. What would make people more enthusiastic about commenting on each other's work? And then I remembered - we're all ruthless, don't-do-anything-for-nothing kind of people, aren't we? :)

So, we need an incentive to make the system work even better. And that incentive is.....to make the process two-way (hence the title of this post!).

It would be great if you could register on the site somewhere, asking for someone to be your "writing partner". Along comes someone else with similar tastes who also has work to critique and you swap with them.

They read your classic stories about Barney the Frog and you read their witty anecdotes about grave digging in Ecuador. Each partner then passes comment to the other and everyone is happy.

You could swap a single piece of work or form a wonderful, meaningful relationship whereby every word you put to keyboard is swapped with your new friend (aah). It would be possible, too, to exchange with several people, but the beauty is that in doing so, you would have to comment to each and every one of them (You want comments? You gotta work for them!).

Whaddaya think, folks?

Bored yet? Should I get my coat?

Simon, I'm going to get stuck in reading your stories if I can find them. Maybe you suggest which one you want feedback on. I'll reply...only problem is that like musical genres...we all like different things...so that might mean a little hunt goes on to find the matching type of writer???Anyway, I'll have a try....when I see what yours are like. I'll suggest a story of mine?????

Great - thanks Kim(?)! A response already! I agree about finding a matching writer, though - could be tricky, though I think there are many people out there who would be prepared to read anything and judge its content. I'm content reading anything interesting - as long as the words aren't too hard. :) Oh, and I write under the name of deepthought, in case you're having trouble finding my stuff.....email me and I'll suggest one to try (that way, you can avoid my dodgier scribblings!) :) Then you can suggest one of yours! (my email, to save you looking it up, is "simon.warner@ntlworld.com").

A great challenge for one and all at ABCtales. To misquote Hatsey "There are no great writers, only great challenges which ordinary writers, by force of circumstance, must rise to meet." I am sure Diana will find a way to give a birth to this soulful idea www.authorsden.com/jozefimrich
