I thought this was a very effective piece although I didn't understand some of the punctuation usage and sentences that are 'fragments' (as bloody Mr annoying paperclip in MS word Spell check keeps reminding me).

Even so, I'm sure there are good reasons for this and it didn't disturb the rhythm.

I didn't get 'salad days' as I'd never heard the expression but Google to the rescue
