FREE Book - The Opening Line

My book, The Opening Line, is now FREE for just five days. Now let me warn you, this is a short book at 11,000 words (even though some people publish books a third that size), but one I believe every writer, author, journalist, song-writer, spin-doctor, scribbler and blogger should read, because I’ve researched The Opening Lines of almost 200 books!

I firmly believe The Opening Line is the hardest, yet most important, line to write. In the book I discuss what works and what doesn’t. Some Opening Lines are pure poetry, but others are truly awful. One of my pet hates is giving the date in The Opening Line, second only to a dead body, which for me shows a complete lack of imagination. My favourite Opening Line throws a question of some sort at the reader, leaving us thinking why, how or tell me more, and that’s the carrot that is used as an incentive to hook us into reading more.

So download it now. It's only FREE for five days.

Just downloaded it. Thanks.yes

Excellent - thank you Karl.

Here's my favourite opening line :

"It was the afternoon of my eighty-first birthday, and I was in bed with my catamite when Ali announced that the archbishop had come to see me" -- Earthly Powers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthly_Powers

Ah, I missed that one Andrea

Andrea, Luigi, HELP HELP HELP, I think I may have been offering the wrong edition of The Opening Line for free. Do your copies have an exceptionally long 'About the Author' section with photos of various people in it, or are there just a few of my other books advertisised? If so, it's a complete disaster!

Don't panic Mr. Mainwaring!

I just checked my dowloaded copy and it looks the real McCoy. It has a proper cover followed by your photo , a short blurb about the book and then the text begins. I will read it thoroughly soon.

Thanks Luigi, but is there an 'About the Author' section at about 50%, with a picture of a pretty young lady headlining it?

(I can't look myself, without going through the whole process of deleting the book completely from my files and re-buying it, all of which I thought I'd done)

Yes the lovely Yvette is there heading the 'about the author'. Further on there are covers of a couple of books of yours and photos of people you know or are friendly with. I'll find out in due course what is what and who's who.

Cheers.

PPHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! Thanks. I thought I was going to have 'retire' the whole book. It's only a quick 11,000 words, and even if some people publish 'books' for just 3000 words, I'd still feel a bit mean charging for it. It's only  'leader'

Many thanks for that
