Creating the plot
Hallo!!! I'm a new-writer from Italy and I began writing about a year ago. I've been bulding and cutting an' adding new things to my story for about 10 months, cause it's a complex story I'd like to write down in 3-4 books at least. At the moment I don't feel completely satisfied with it, it still lacks of something. What I wanted to ask you is: how long did you work on the plot of your book and how did you do it? As I have no experience at all, I really hope to read your answers!!!!!
Ages. Mainly because it tends to develop without you. I don't personally like trying to constrain it unnaturally, so the few novels I've worked on have spiralled off in odd directions. My current one is very loose in terms of plot - more of a scrapbook. Perhaps you should take what you've got so far and plan out a rigid plot structure based on that, then try to stick religiously to it.
The plot should be constructed as an objective situation in which the content of the writing can play itself out.
The Voice should express your attitude toward the characters and your relationship with the content.
I seem to have a problem making anything 'happen' in my stories. I love my characters but I have a tendency to just let them mill around. Because of this I have constructed plenty of strong beginnings but don't seem to develop much past that point. Anybody got any tips for me? Would be much appreciated.
Get one of your characters to kill the rest of them.
Then get her to kill J****r.
