Update on Richard's Sis Susan Mar 23, 2013

Hello all you kind ABC artists. This is an updated report on my sister Susan. I reprint the whole e-mail since there are bits of info interspersed with her full message. Thank you all again, from the bottom of my heart for your prayers---Richard and Esther---

Patsy continues to visit Susan, daily, except when she had a cold & one night this week, she just was too tired!

But, the day Patsy could not make it, was when they decided to go in & clean up the area where the stump is.

Because of that fungus that is around the stump, dangerous for it to spread to the good lung, they went in on Tues to clean & disinfect around the stump.

So here Patsy is on the phone with me, crying her eyes out, feeling so bad that she didn't make it to see Susan at the end of the day, of that procedure.

The next day, Susan was in such pain. It's her back that is so sore!

The next few days, Susan was smiling & in good spirits & yesterday, they opened Susan up , to clean & disinfect again. Monday, they go back to patch up the stump with muscle that is present in her thoracic cage, put a sealant on top & all around the area, and hopefully, it'll do the job & they won't have to go back!!

Tonight, Patsy said that they found inflammation around her heart!! It's being treated. Again, hopefully, they won't have to go in to take care of that!

Susan, has a lot of Friends that are visiting, keeping up her spirits. Patsy keeps telling her not to be afraid, stressing the fact that no cancer remains, "It's all gone"!! Then, Susan will say, "It's all gone?" "Yes", says Patsy & only then does Susan really believe it.

What still remains: a hole in her wind pipe, a paralyzed vocal chord, the stump situation/fungus & now the heart. All things that they can treat!! The last two, being the most serious.

The Positives: NO VENTILATOR!! She's breathing on her own, her vitals are good, no poop tube!! She's pooping on her own!! So much so, that they checked Susan for "C'est difficile" (that germ that circulates in hospitals), but she did not have it!!

The Doctors are very happy with Susan's progress! "The journey continues"!

Love,

Good news, Richard. We'll keep those prayers going. Rich

Dear ABC friends---so many well-wishers have shared their prayers and concerns. The updates I provide are to accomplish several things: One, to acknowledge your caring and how valuable it is to the recovery of my sister. And secondly, to remind each of us the power of the spirit to live, to fight for the opportunity to return to society and continue to make this world a better place, and is a powerful healer. Yes, some say for what reason? Because life is worth living to the last drop of love we can share with one another. I have met many who fought through the fiery challenges of lost health and who returned to be a better person and who now encourage family, friends and even strangers. So many out there need this and seek it. Let's do it. Chimo, from Richard & Esther.

Still burning that candle, every evening.

Richard, All three of you are in my thoughts and prayers but especially Susan. I pray her pain can be relieved. She is so brave to endure all that she has gone through so far. Let's hope the collected good wishes of all the ABC Talers can help speed her recovery. Moya
