Barbarous Doll....

I asked my friend in Nashville (who I shall be spending New Year with) what i could get his young daughter for Christmas. He replied that she collected barbie dolls and would love an 'English' one. Last Saturday on a trip to London I took my life in my hands and ventured into Hamley's in Regent St. Thinking that as they claim to be the biggest and best toy shop in Christendom they would be bound to have the desired item I duly fought my way to the third floor, only to be informed they didn't stock them any more.

My searching on the internet came up with the following model;

http://www.theculture.net/barbie/

I'm speechless !

(for once)

I didn't mean that Hamley's didn't stock Barbie dolls, Tim. They said they didn't stock the 'English' model.

the English model is very hard to come by apparently
Well I haven't done much looking but I'm told there's always a plentiful supply in rehab centres.

"Hamleys have 69 Barbie products on their website"... I expect that'll be Ken as well then ;O)
What exactly is the english model of barbie? does she look like 'yea but no but' (can't remember characters name) from Little Britain instead of having huge silicone tits, an impossibly miniscule waist and huge hair like the American one?
Ohhh...found one on ebay (actually are several, mostly in USA) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DOTW-ENGLISH-BARBIE-NRFB_W0QQitemZ6013709274QQcate... I love the translation... Steeplechase (horse race), cheerio (goodbye)
She just stands in the corner anxiously waiting for someone to introduce her to that 'rather fetching chappie in the tweeds'.
