I'm going to Paris for a week. Suggestions regarding what to take with me to tide me over please! So far I have packed: "The Little Friend" and "Dickens the socially mobile cat" (by John Bird). I need two or three other books I would guess....and since I'm going on Saturday they need to be easily available!

Take "My Lovers Lover", by Maggie o' Farrell.... in no way as chick lit as the title or jacket suggest.. beautifully beautifully written, tense and gripping... I couldnt put it down, and passed it onto mark brown who feels exactly the same about it. You can get it from WHSmiths or suchlike. Enjoy Paris..

You could do worse than Strange Pilgrims, short stories by the incomparable Garcia Marquez, or something with a French flavour such as Simenon's The Blue Room or a short but amazing read would be Bruce Chatwin's Utz. Enjoy paris

I would suggest Maggie O'Farrell 'After you'd gone' - Liana haven't read My Lover's Lover but can't wait. And Bel Canto by Anne Patchit (sp?). Fantastic book
