Finally got round to reading this by Tracy Chevalier. A very good read I thought. Read the first half after discovering it on a B & B bookshelf in Normandy whilst my other half was recovering from home brew Calvados poisoning. I will always think of Normandy and Calvados when I look at that book, not that that's anything to do with the story! I recommend it to those who haven't read it - the book, not Calvados. Those who have, have you tried any other books of hers? any good?

oops, already started reading Falling Angels when I should be reading Tulip Fever. Tony, you should write one of those books, they often have lists in the library of.. "if you liked this, you'll like reading this.." Could be an abc moneyspinner perhaps?

Read all of hers - I think she is a great popular novelist. Excellent holiday reading. After 'Pearl Earring' you should read Tulip Fever by Deborah Moggach. They go very well together! Just as her next book 'Falling Angels' goes very well with Miss Garnett's Angel by Sally Vickers. I love putting books in pairs. Weird or what?
