Asparagus
I've just discovered this writer... worth a read, particularly his poetry.
thanking you most kindly, Mr stormy_petrel. i truly do write from the heart and i am feeling so much gladness that i have touched you in an eternal way. i am now working on masterpiece concerning thermo-dynamics in the process of making the cheese, for which i must travel expansively.
No wonder Jamie Oliver is concerned about school meals, eh Stormy :O)
Never mind J-O and school meals, I received an email today from asparagus-the-cheesemaker informing me of his/her true ID.
I shall be starting a new set about my thread recommendations entitled Gullible's Travails.
In the meantime I have fashioned some old cheddar into a portly effigy and have my fondue forks poised.
Ah! So this is someone we know already is it? A cunning pseudonym to disguise their true identity.
I should do that again. Worked like magic last time.
I am still in the dark on this one - but whover asparagus is, he/she is very good indeed!
ah...Mr asparagus, the disguise is not so great, you just need to read his work and it is pretty obvious who it is...there's no disguising that writing style I'm afraid.
Oh btw Mr A, congrats on POW, well deserved although I agree with the boss lady it should have been one of your other poems rather than this one.
A
I'm Asparagus. My real name is Barry Glover and I live in Salford. I like it when ladies come by.
Thank you for giving me poem of the week, especially for a poem that I have no idea what it is about, despite being the author.
Did I ever tell you about the time I cut my cock off with some pinking shears? No? Well, it was 1974..........
"there's no disguising that writing style I'm afraid..."
Read them all now and no ideas. The only person I can think of is Eddie Gibbons, but that's just because he used to contribute a lot is hitchaiku and I haven't seen his work on here in a while.
Hmm...how about reading Asparagus' post above? Huge clue in there!
ok, so i'm not Barry Glover or Oliver James( or indeed Eddie Gibbons) and yes i am someone who has used ABC for a while. I often write under other names, just to see what reaction I get when people think i'm someone else (although there are a couple of people who always suss me out). I was genuinely surprised to get POW, cos as Pesky says it is pretty average and i may well have done better.
Nope. Still clueless.
So - nominate a poem for next week.
As for what it's about, I think that's pretty clear. It's about longing. It's about that person who fills you up but never quite comes across. It's about that person who won't let you go, who keeps you dangling whilst you yearn.
It's an excellent piece of work and deserves a number of reads.
OK. So. He likes ladies. Or, he's taking the michael out of people who like ladies, and who write poems about liking ladies. Or he's doing Philip Larkin and the English rose poem. I don't know. Is it Mark Brown going undercover? Is it Fish ripping it out of male poets? Is it that guy whose diaries everyone loved? I don't know. Alumbloom? Stormy himself? It's not bobblehat. Lord. Help.
Pesky - I meant to post earlier to say that I've long admired your poetry but I haven't said so because I thought you might take it the wrong way in view of our past differences.
So disguises have many uses :O)
Mykle, not sure if you meant that you think Asparagus is Pesky, but just in case you did I can assure you it most definitely isn't.
me not Pesky. she's milessssssssssssss better than me. if you did mean that mykle, i shall take it as a compliment.
Hahaha :O)
Camus, there is a lot more chance that you are Pesky :O)
I thought that Asparagus was just another of the multiple faces of the very talented Mr Tim Smilee - haven't given it much thought.
My earlier post was a genuine compliment for Liana (as Pesky).
Hahahaha....I wish!
The pesky one has more talent in her little finger than I could ever hope to have,
(although I'm much better at killing rats than she is!)
Just as a matter of interest - does anybody know what Tony Cook's poetry is like? I think Asparagus is just the sort on name he would choose... but I've never read any of his poetry.
Good point, Tim. I still suspect that it may be you :O)
:o)
So barely, oh so contrary: what happened to Titch then? I was about to grace you with a 'wee' crit on it, but found you'd vamoosed. :O)
So. Do I look for your poems under the fruit or the vegetable bin? And give me a color as a clue - let's say green, for instance. :O)
Aha! A man (?) of many cloaks.
*check the walk-in freezer and under the broiler, watson. look down. look up. take note of AnyBodies*
:O)
And I don't write poetry!
