This is such a wicked, wistful concept. I really like the idea of trying to let go of something and finding the action binds you even faster to thinking about it. Enjoyed the hint of stalkerdom within, too.

I would maybe rethink the ending. I dunno - maybe something about a single balloon getting caught on your fence, or upsetting a child. Just focus in a little and it could really come off.

cheers brighteyes. this was posted up in the discussion boards when it was first written, probably a couple o' years ago now, and it was pretty much the view that it would work better as a story, which it now is. Will post it up / send it to you. macca
