Brick: Cracking Film

Saw this the other night at my local pretentious cinema. As far as I can tell it's also been on in the multiplexes, which is class. It's funny, and high schooly, and film-noir-y -- go see!

If you can find an indecently huge car park, Brick may be playing near-by.

I felt it tried too hard and was a little too 'knowing'. But still a million miles better than some of the shite that'll be raking in millions i.e. The Da Vinci Code.

Oh, forgot: who did kill the girl?

It was the Pin's sidekick, after he'd been told the girl was potentially carrying someone else's baby. One thing that holds the film back would be the at-times smart dialogue which is hard to follow esp. with all the drugs and street slang thrown in. My main gripe is that the main character looks like an old nerd friend of mine called Alan. This isn't so bad in itself, having a cloud face with NHSers aint all that bad, but this guy beats up like two people and has sex with hot chicks. This does not happen to geeks!
That was the initial thing that made my sense of dis-belief go on red alert. Have you seen 'Hidden'?

I don't think so, although film titles alone never jog my memory. I understand films as "the one with yer man with the big prostethic knob" or "the one with yer man who's a woman with the song 'the crying game' on in the background". I'm hoping that A Scanner Darkly turns out to be a good conversion. Oh baby yeah.
