Love books? Swap them!

The National Literacy Trust launch their Swap a Book campaign this Friday. We thought this might be the sort of thing that would appeal to you. Here are a few of the things they are suggesting people do to get involved.

1 Use (your ABCtales.com!) email to recommend books to friends or colleagues by setting up a chain or adding a book recommendation to the end of every email you send on Friday
2 Get friends and colleagues to bring in their favourite reads, least favourite reads and books they can bear to part with
3 Ask your chief executive to bring in a book to start a workplace library
4 Collect books for a local charity
P Pair up colleagues randomly and invite them to swap a book with each other
6 Install book swap boxes in communal areas

To get some ideas of what others are doing around the country, and to order free Swap a Book posters, see their website at http://www.literacytrust.org.uk/campaign/swapabook.html

One other idea is that we set up a thread here and exchange lists of our favourite books and/or books you think everyone should read (which may not be the same thing)

Also, if you live near any other ABCtalers, why not get together and swap books? I've got about 50 books I've got to get rid of because of lack of bookshelf/flat space so if anyone fancies having an unofficial London gathering to swap books, let me know.

Cheers

Em
