Inspiration point

Last week I posted an attempt to deliver a worthwhile piece under this heading, Tony was kind enough to make a frindly comment about it and suggested that others could improve on it. But as far as I could see no one bothered. I have had another go this week. I find the idea of taking a simple phrase or whatever and trying to create a story around it really interesting. Am I the only one? Tony's comment this week says he has been asked to.....but the response is so poor. I'd love to see how others interpret this subject so come on have a go at it. I'm sure the "Readers" will be interested too.

I'm working on mine at the moment - I find it a really useful way of firing ideas. I know from other groups that people sometimes say it's a distraction from work in progress, but I think it feeds in to other things you're doing. M
hiya. hope i don't sound really dense (some hope), but where on the site do i find the inspiration points? i find inspiration points or strictures really useful, cos even if i end up not sticking with them they help me focus on the task at hand rather than if left to my own devices there's a tendency for me to be undisciplined and ramble...however, with work etc, do find making time for any writing really hard!

...on the homepage I don't think a simple phrase in itself is enough. It would be good if it could be a mini workshop a challenge to write a specific type of piece with instructions and tips. Here is a example I knocked together in just a few minutes: C.S. Lewis's famous work on the nature of love divides love into four categories: Affection, Friendship, Eros and Charity. The first three are loves which come naturally to the human race. Write a mini-saga illustrating one of the four loves. A mini saga is a story of exactly 50 words (not including the title). The limitation of fifty words means you need to think very imaginatively about which words are really necessary but also what images can convey so huge a topic! A mini saga should have a clear beginning, middle and end and should feel complete in itself. Sometimes off-beat ideas work well or something more ordinary and down to earth with an unexpected twist at the end. jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.netjude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net

apologies. i was being really dense...

i just want a place i can call my own

It is difficult to find stuff on websites sometimes - don't feel dense! That's a really interesting idea, jude. I will try and work along those lines on Friday and post something challenging.
