Suite 101 - any info?

Hi folks,

I'm hoping to be able to get into a bit of copywriting while I'm studying. I worked in corporate communnications many moons ago and it strikes me I could take some of my skills from that time and do a bit of copywriting again with a wider scope this time around.

While trying to get up to speed with what's changed in the world of copywriting I've come across a website - www.suite101.com - it appears to me to be a network of writers who, with the help of an editorial team, are creating & selling copy for online publication. However, when reading through their marketing info I'm getting that feeling of not knowing exactly what it is that they do and I think that information might remain quite elusive unless I sign up. Signing up involves submitting two articles which they would then hold online rights to for a yr - I'm reluctant to do that if my words can work harder for me elsewhere.

So my question to you lovely bunch is do any of you know anything about Suite101 or have any tips about breaking into online copywriting and actually making some moola?

Thanks in advance for all feedback.

More surfing... Have found this web page that seems to have good info from folk with first hand experiences; http://www.writtenroad.com/2008-06/writing-for-suite101com-and-aboutcom-...
