Well I was 100,000, for a couple of seconds, until somebody deleted a story. Stuck on 999999, which means I get the police, ambulance and fire service! hurrah
Don't despair white dwarf. When the techies and admin side see this my bet is that they'll somehow be able to conjure up your old account. The site has undergone a complete rebuild and the data transfer was an enormous undertaking. Don't panic Captain Mainwaring, DON'T PANIC.
Have no fear, we are doing our best to recover it now - it seems like someone manually removed the account, but luckily we do have some backups of the database!
Glad your handle is working again, White Dwarf, and expect to see your stories all back online by Friday morning at the latest - they'll be dug out of the archives by the end of the week.
We have dropped quite a few stories - when we upgraded our spam filter we found out that there was a backlog of spam posts archived in the nether regions of ABC tales, which obviously don't count! So looks like we'll have another run at 100,000 coming up soon...

I think I know why -- seems a lot of accounts were deleted-- including mine.
Though I have not made a post for over a year, i sometime log in to see what's up -- but today there is no record of my account ever existing.
White Dwarf was my account -- 40 odd stories on it. At least an 8 year old account.

It seem i misunderstood the OP - i was referring ot the site story count going down since it reached 100,000 -- because right now it is at 99189.
If the current story count is accurate than maybe a lot of other accounts have been deleted also.
Anyway -- Luke is on the case and hopefully my old account will be in the backup.
