Wilbur Smith anyone?

Hello all....
I was just wondering if there were any other Wilbur fans out there If not...WHY NOT??

When my dad kept harping on about how good his books were, I thought yeah, yeah....an aging author will have little to offer me
What a foolish prat I was!

They are soooo cool......who would have thought that I would enjoy piracy on the high seas?
Smith's researching of his stories must be so extensive.

All I can say is go buy River God.......NOW!

Laters....

likewise Fish, as a teenager, I avidly read them, along with Robert Ludlum, who was his hi-tech spy alternative. It's been years now since I've looked at Wilbur.....I remember them being mostly about safari passion and treachery....

river god is very good. if you like well researched historical detective/thrillers then try steven saylor. he brings rome to life convincingly. I hadn't realised they were in order though. so start with roman blood. I read 'arms of nemises' first and by comparison roman blood, his first ever novel, is weaker.

I read Eagle in the Sky as a child too, Fish. Every book I tried of his after that, seemed to me as if they were written by someone else? I've tried several more, but they don't really grab me....
