Lost Cause by Foster
A fine little parable - a tad sickly sweet, but then again a touch of heart warming is always good at this time of year:
Thanks much, Tony. I do get a bit sappy at times, don't I?
Almost Not Worth Mentioning: The title is Lost Time, not Lost Cause...I hope that wasn't Freudian.
I really liked this Foster and I didn't think it was "sappy" at all, just rather touching...
maybe it's something to do with being a father myself and never being particularly close to my own dad.
Yes, Lost Time was good, and this is very good:

"Now she began to speak; her first words were 'darling' or 'my darling,' followed by my Christian name, which, if we give the narrator the same name as the author of this book, would produce 'darling Marcel' or 'my darling Marcel.' "
Foxy - what better compliment could I ask for?
otto e mezzo - thank you for the flag...it's much appreciated.
Thank you both very much. These are kind words, and from two very good writers at that.
