Happy Hour All Day by tom_saunders

This, I think, is his best yet - and that's saying something. It's an absolute cracker. I love all the characters, I've met most of the bits of them - and I just love the way it hangs togetheer. It's quite long but worth every second:

i agree the attention to detail in the characters really brings them alive, my favourite the jockey - i imagine her voice low and gruff. Some wonderful references to how we all suffer with belief in our creative abilities. And some perceptive descriptions that paint vivid scenes - i particularly liked the parka as a house coat. And yes it is long, but does not feel so as the plot keeps shifting forwards. A really enjoyable read. Juliet

Well worth the time spent reading - nice one, Tom. Vividly drawn characters throughout. Excellent use of words. Insightful. Delightful. foster.
Thanks, Tony, Juliet, Foster. I'm so glad you liked the story. If you want to buy my book, visit my blog: http://whatisthisstrangeplace.blogspot.com/(link is external)
I'm interested Tom. Do you think it's one of the best pieces you've ever written? Don't be shy!
I find it very hard to have an objective view on the things I've written, Tony. I can't read a story of mine without seeing all the parts at once, so they don't work on me the way I hope they do on the reader. I'm super critical of my writing and I'm always fiddling with things. Of course, I've liked all the stories and poems I've written at one point or another, otherwise I wouldn't have finished them. I wouldn't say this story is my favourite at the moment, but I really enjoyed writing it. If you want to buy my book, visit my blog: http://whatisthisstrangeplace.blogspot.com/(link is external)
