poem and lyric

Whilst re-reading Kim.Rooney's excellent Midnight Bird, I found Sooz had suggested that a part of this poem could be a lyric, with a great suggestion for an Eve Cassidy vocal delivery. Then the question arose as to what is the difference between lyric and poem. Would anyone like to add their thoughts to the difference between these two forms of writing? Thanks.
