September Days
A journal piece from Pesky that truly struck a chord with me. I lost my dog last year and this brought all those emotions back without resorting to mawkish sentimentality. It was well structured, wry and poignant and I loved the ending about losing a stone in weight being a silver lining, followed by ' I don't half miss him'. Made its point perfectly-very affecting.
You'll need this.
Pesky is a fab writer, I think we'll all agree...
Crap. Didn't work. I'll try again.

David you are so right, as is Archergirl, Pesky is a great writer...and although generally her poetry gets more flags than her prose she actually does both fabulously well.
As for the piece it is brilliant in it's gut wrenching poignancy, I know that the first time I read it I cried buckets and even now it chokes me and brings a tear to my eye.
I think that me and BBF should start the official pesky knickers fan club...can charge £5 membership and in return members will receive an official Pesky head hair complete with COA.
She's a tough nut, our Pesky, but her accolades are well deserved....
*smiles*
I should have been writing xmas cards, and instead I'm reading this story with tears running down my cheeks and memories of my cat dying after being hit by a car. A frantic midnight chase to the vets, and him and me screaming as the vet manipulated him until they sent me out of the room. Then a day later seeing for the only time my husband crying. Not even the birth of a child triggered tears in my hard man. But the sight of our loved and young tabby in a box and surrounded by flowers the children had picked was too much.
Thanks.
I think.
