But I Don't Feel Dressed Without My Jewellery

This is a good'un.

A cop in Hampshire is suing his force for prohibiting HIS earring whilst on duty. He claims it's a badge of his homosexuality! Now I know how sailors got that bad reputation over the last 300yrs.

He also claims he's being picked on as heterosexual officers are allowed to wear THEIR metalwork with impunity. Whether this is right or not I haven't a clue, but many employers have strict dress codes. The 'terrorist' says that the girls in her office have been banned from exposing their mid-riffs, on the basis that clients of a legal firm expect the company to appear professional.

Fair enough.

If we go down the ' free to wear what you want' road, who knows where it will lead. The next thing you'll know is that soldiers will turn up for battle in kaftans!

Hold on a minute, that's exactly what they have been doing in Lebanon, or at least one side has. They also hide among the civilians and shout foul when they get shot at.

It's obvious that some form of dress code is desirable in many walks of life, and seeing as how the police force is a para-military organisation, (oh yes it is), it helps if we can differentiate between them and the innocent.

I would imagine that the force would say that he can't wear earring for safety reasons, I would presume, having never seen a female officer wearing earrings either that the 'metalwork' he is claiming that others are allowed to wear are wedding/engagement rings?
No, he is claiming that heterosexual officers have been allowed to wear earrings, brow rings, nose rings, and tongue studs. Women are apparently allowed to wear small studs in their ears too. He's obviously determined to be allowed to display his sexuality. Homosexuality is no problem to me but it seems there are a few who feel obliged to ram it down everyones throats. I don't believe they do themselves or others of their ilk any good in the long run. Why can't the guy just go along with the rules, (whilst demanding that they are applied to all officers).

"Homosexuality is no problem to me but it seems there are a few who feel obliged to ram it down everyones throats." Ahh! the puns that could be had.
I was aware of the implications of that line and wondered who would be the first to pick up on it. Knowing you are a sharp thinker, I'm not surprised it was you. Email me.
