Cade

This is a book I am working on. It is fantasy and I am calling it "Cade" until I think of a title.

I will post chapters as I write them.

Thanks RVA, I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy the new posts. Tova

Hi, I just signed up here and I was just reading your writing. I don't really read a lot of fantasy any more, but what I've read so far seems really intriguing. Will read more when I have the time. Just wanted to say keep up the good writing. RVA

Cade 19 & 20

Hot, he was so hot. Cade opened his eyes to shadows dancing on the rock ceiling above him. A small fire was burning, the smoke layering the ceiling of the cave in black soot.

Cade 11&12

DeTac towered above Max and Rotta. She reached for Rotta with one of the hairy black spider legs. Rotta fought with all her might but was unable to free herself from the strength in that grasp. "What are you doing? Rotta screamed feeling her sanity starting to slip. "Seeing that you fulfill your promise girl, DeTac said as she pulled Rotta toward the back room. Rotta tugged with all her might but to no avail. "What, what is it you wish me to carry for you? DeTac stopped. In one fluid and viscously fast movement, bent her torso low, ugly twisted face even with Rotta's lovely one. "A child.

Cade 13&14

The sweet sickly smell of death hung in the air. Cade entered cautiously though he knew from Razar's silence the room was empty, or almost. For there, on an old hay stuffed mattress in the corner lay the very dead Max. Cade walked over to the body and flinched. Max was lying on his back, eyes wide open and completely naked. What was left of the blood and bile in his body saturated the mattress in a peculiar pattern.

Cade 15

Chapter 15 “Shifter,” Cade spat. Razar growled deep in his throat and stalked toward the beautiful woman.

Cade 16

“You were wise to bring us this issue Gainrel,” Venjamin, the leader of the seven Legna council spoke. “We are hearing many disturbing reports from the field.”

Cade 17 & 18

The morning broke with the two suns beating upon the three travelers. Cade was running at his usual ground eating pace. Magus slapped rhythmically on his strong back as he ran.

Cade 21

Razar pushed ahead through the thick underbrush leaving his companions a few steps behind. “Hold!” Baran Wardex shouted at the hound for the tenth time in as many minutes.

Cade 22 & 23

Razar stood at the mouth of the cave his back stiff. A low growl rolled back toward the travelers.

Cade 24

“Prepare her!” The beast master ordered the silent slave standing just inside the bedchamber. He carried Mikota to the bed and tossed her upon it.

Cade 25

“Here she is your highness,” the beast master said and gave Mikota a little shove. “On your knees slave!” Mikota fell to her knees, red robe gaping open.

Cade 26

“Silence!” Baran Wardex’s roar reverberated off the stone walls of the clan house effectively eliminating the current infighting.

Cade 27

“Show yourself,” Cade said softly. The black mare in the stall next to Sarsus shimmered and shifted into Rainn’s familiar red headed form.

Cade 28

Mikael found Gainrel in what was fast becoming his habitual place, behind Baran Wardex who at the moment was sitting at the head of the Alai.

Cade 29

In the predawn stillness of the forest, the sound of two horses moving slowly down the dirt trail echoed back from the darkness. Cade held up his hand and stopped their progress.

Cade 3&4

Rotta studied the man's face hard. Max was her partner in crime and her sometimes lover. He grew up on the streets with her and was everything a man of the streets could be, ruthless, brutal, strong, cunning and alternately stupid. Her eyes narrowed. If he was lying, if the so called Wardex returned, she'd slit Max's throat herself. In the meantime, she had other uses for Max. She smiled and the robe slipped to the floor. She took a great deal of satisfaction in Max's reaction. "Well then, dead is dead she purred. "Spread the fur out Max, and let's give it some new memories.

Cade 30

Rainn watched the trio on the trail from the air. She saw Cade’s upturned face and knew he was aware of her presence as soon as she was within striking distance.

Cade 31

Mikota stood naked and watched the suns set from a window in King Kryler’s chamber. Sleek dampness leaked down sore inner thighs to drip on the cold stone floor at her feet.

Cade 32

Mikota was sleeping when Samanda entered the chamber. “Where is the king?” Mikota rubbed violet eyes and pushed dark tangles of hair from a pale face.

Cade 33

“The witch DeTac your majesty,” the guard to the royal receiving room announced.

Cade 34

Verin’s four stubby leather wings echoed dryly in the dark chamber as he circled round and round the tower’s perimeter.

Cade 5 & 6

Gainrel nodded. "The merchant is not your priority. Your human is part of prophecy Mikael. Many will be the days when you must turn your righteous wrath from an evil opponent to guard your charge. It is their intent to draw your attention from your duties leaving your human vulnerable.

Cade 7 & 8

The wretchedness of her spirit's echo was so discordant Gainrel had to keep from gritting his teeth. She was a willing medium of the dead, or so she thought. What she actually was happened to be far different. She was a conduit for evil. Any one who called out to the dargons were almost always consumed by them eventually. Their lives driven into total madness by the never ending tortures of the very ones they called to befriend.

Cade 9&10

Rotta walked down the stairs of the hasma with Max following close behind. The place was full tonight, as every night of the festival. She surveyed the crowd and found her next pigeon, a small man as wide as he was tall, a balding pallet and crimson face. She wasn't concerned with his physical features however, but more with the many gold rings he wore upon his fingers, and the expensive cut of his vest.

Cade Chapter 1 & 2

He slid Magus slowly back into its worn leather sheath on his back and looked up into the biting glare of the two suns. Thirst burned deep in his throat. A fitting punishment he thought. He gauged the time of day by their positions and started walking east. He would return to the hasma and to Rotta, yes that was her name. Dear sweet Rotta who could not keep her hands to herself. Maybe, if she were lucky, he'd leave her hands.
