Bang! I've shot my cuckoo.
Hi guys. I have recently taken down 'Elsie or else' the piece on my site which lured the most readers hits through its juicy cherries and warnings of x-rated content.
Although your attention and comments were great, as were those of friends elsewhere and I have excluded the poem not destroyed it completely I felt that it had become a cuckoo in the nest distracting from my gentler and in my view sometimes more worked on and better pieces. The emotions I expressed were heartfelt at the time but I cannot right now describe it as autobiographical.
Did Allen Ginsberg ever feel this way about Howl? Wish he was around to ask!
Any of you been through similar with your work? I'm interested to know, Elsie
How about starting another account under a pseudonym for your raunchy range? Elsie XXXX Katz? Elsie 'You Must be 18' Katz? You get the idea.
Well, if I decide to create a 'raunchy range' this would make good sense! Elsie
Do it. You know you want to.
But I don't! Not right now. I x-rated the piece because it contained a lot of violently angry swearing using 'adult' curse words. It was not erotica.
How about you creating your own range. You could call it 'phallax' No offence meant. Elsie
Maybe I've already created my own range...?
Hi Elsie. My guess is that Ginsberg would have published the words he believed in. We put our innermost selves on public display on here and have to be able to live with that - rather a weird thing to do in most people's eyes. If you went under the Number 8 to Clapton Pond or wherever it goes, would you want your poem out there? Up to you ultimately. I say leave it on and live with it.

Well Kev,
you have got me thinking!
'We put our innermost selves on display on here and have to be able to live with that.' I beg to differ. We put as much as we want of ourselves on ABC tales and we have every right to take down what we want.
'a weird thing to do in most people's eyes.' Do I care? Who are 'most people?' I'm not sure if I am reading this the way you intended. My first impression was that you were telling me that most writers here would think it was 'a weird thing' for me to put up a piece then remove it. Anybodys' guess.Reading it again I thought you were simply saying that participating in ABC tales is 'a weird thing'. But 'most people' purrlease! Do I care about most people when I have not met them face to face? Do I care about 'the world and its wife?'
What I have from you is one persons' point of view namely yours. Do I care what you think? Yes.
I agree with you about Ginsberg. I think he was a brave person.
Like I said you have got me thinking.. Elsie
You've got one thing right Elsie: it's just my opinion. But, then, you did use this public forum to ask.
I've replaced the full-stop with a hyphen in the original post to clarify the point.
Best wishes. Kev

Well done on the cherries.

Thanks. Given the choice I would re-arrange them. I do not think our local greengrocer always has the same taste as myself and when I read other writers' work I will often think that an unfruited piece of theirs works better for me. But they still taste sweet. All the best Elsie
