MANY SMALL RED BUBBLES OF FOAM

I remain frozen
As they are scattered
Into my tears
Of humiliation,
Into my tears
Of shame,
Because they glorify my defeat.
Though my body cannot hold them;
Though my veins cannot rush them;
Though my wounds cannot drip them;
Though my scars cannot drain them;
They are still concealed
Under this crimson water my skin swallows,
Among hopes and desires
Of ease,
Of alleviation,
Among hopes and desires
Of freedom,
Of reconciliation,
And you can forget this I became,
Many small red bubbles of foam;
And you can bury this I became,
Many small red bubbles of foam;
And you can burn this I became,
Many small red bubbles of foam;
And you can reject this I became,
Many small red bubbles of foam;
