06.44 am The day dawns as it usually does with the alarm going off,
and waking up. I slept on top of the covers last night it was so hot. I
woke up at 3am considered pulling a sheet over me but was too tired to
do so, and I fell asleep again.
Yesterday (28) I woke up at 9.00am and fed the cats. Sometimes I repeat
myself and sometimes the cats do instead - they have me well trained, I
feed them before I do anything else. I went online to see what had been
happening - not much. Then I played the guitar. I play the guitar most
days in the belief that to do so will improve my ability to play an
acoustic in a crowded shop, but so far I haven't had much
success.
I rang ... who I shall call Erin from now on, because I shall. We spoke
for a while, and I sat in the garden. Then my wife came back and had a
shout at me for not answering the door immediately. I was still on the
phone to Erin at the time, and she heard the way I made excuses.
Anyway, my wife says, why have you got grass on your shorts. Cause I
was in the garden, I said. Then she huffed off, and I finished my chat.
Later I had a bath and we drove to Leigh.
We went in Woolworths and my wife bought a couple of papers (which I
never read) about Big Brother on the front page, and I bought a stereo
radio CD tape player so I could do a tape. We sat outside Irma's and
had a coffee, and she said, yeah I knew you were talking to Erin, but
you could have told me, and I would have taken the key. She smiled. I
drank my coffee. She said the new leather jacket I had bought she didnt
like and moaned about the epaulettes, but the Wolf Leather had them, I
checked. Then we went to an Antique fair, and I gave her a tenner as
she had no cash on her. I had a look at some lighters, including a
First World War sweetheart lighter, but I didnt buy it cause Erin
doesn't smoke. I bought a couple of zippos instead including a brand
new one. My wife bought some fifties Elizabeth Arden stuff which is
probably quite rare.
We had lunch in Irma's - I had a Funghi pizza (which is what a mushroom
pizza is called) and another coffee, before we drove home in the
boiling sun.
In the afternoon I sweated a lot and did a tape for Erin which I hope
to send her tomorrow. On it I put some 70s stuff and on the B side some
60s stuff, which I hope she likes. Then I went online, and Erin was
online so we chatted. And we talked about lots of things, about stories
and poems, and films and books and movies. I had tea - a jacket spud -
and didnt watch Big Brother as I was happy talking to Erin and seeing
what Erin says. So we changed our names and that was fun. Sometimes on
Sundays we talk for over four hours. I listened to the new Green Day
album "Shenanigans" and also the tape I did for Erin (to make sure that
it played ok.) Erin sent me a story to read.
My wife watched "The Seven Year Itch" which she does when it has been
really hot. It's one of her favourite films, as are a lot of Elvis
Presley films.
I wonder if there really is a seven year itch.I need to get a new black
ink cartridge for the printer and some more paper. I should have got
some paper on Saturday but I forgot, and anyway I wasn't in Leigh.
