The Roller Coaster Man

Every two minutes I push the red button,
I know, it should be green, I think so too,
First smile, then wave, make sure all is ready,
Check for some thumbs up signs from others,
I know, it should be green, I think so too,
But I suppose things don't really have to make sense
Check for some thumbs up signs from others,
Hand signals are easier than talking
But I suppose things don't really have to make sense
They don't pay me to think
These things are easier than talking
Push the button, smile, and wave goodbye
They don't pay me to think
They do pay me to be happy
Push the button, smile, and wave goodbye
They'll be back soon, they always come back,
They pay me to be happy
But sometimes after they leave I close my eyes,
They'll be back soon, they always come back,
Sometimes I wish they wouldn't
But sometimes after they leave I close my eyes
Imagine the wheels locking,
Sometimes I wish they would
The coaster slipping backwards
Imagine the wheels locking,
The happy screams, not so happy
The coaster slipping backwards
No one in any real danger, of course
The happy screams, not so happy
It would be perfect, my smile would never fail
No one in any real danger, of course
My boss can't complain, he said never frown
It would be perfect, my smile would never fail
Despite the panicked return of the riders
My boss can't complain, he said never frown
But my curious dreams never happen
There is no panicked return of the riders
No crashing, no wheels locking
My curious little dreams never really happen
The riders are back, somebody else unlocks their seatbelts.
No crashing, no wheels locking
A new group of assholes are ready; I happily tell them to wait
The old riders are back, somebody else unlocks their seatbelts.
That's not my job, I push red not yellow
Every two minutes I push the red button
And, that's all I ever do
