I went to town sometime back
as I walked looking at the shops
the word pamper some had a sign
come in and lie down
be massaged to make you feel calm
from your head to your toes
But when I asked the price
no way would I pay at half the cost
So I wandered on and crossed the road
to where the crazy pavements joined
which used to have dance and songs
an acrobat elderly man dear
bent over playing his harmonica
another played his keyboard
with white gloves on
and scarf over his face
so any germs blow back into space
Someone dressed as a Knight in silver armour
stood absolutely still till he moved his hand
Or winked an eye
people walk up quick and pop coin in
children would shout with fright.
But in the corner in spite of all this
was a young man
His jeans all torn kneeling down
with his coloured chalks so divine
Weaving and shading.
I was mesmerised to watch his artistry work
from a little book so small!
I asked who was she as he blended in her looks
a lady golden long hair
and in a canoe!
Go to the library he said
they will tell you?
So I did and found
book called "The Pre-Raphaelites"
profound as told
the picture was of "The Lady of Shalotte"
looking for her lost love they said.
white candles burning on end of the canoe
and her heart was yearning
"The twist.. is if it had poured with rain
this young man's wonderful skill
would have all been washed away
No photographers about as I tried
they all gone as week-end take the football
photos.

Julie, you have certainly excelled in this wonderful interpretation of this week's inspiration point.
Before I go on, just two minor points. In stanza eight, I think you mean 'mesmerised' (yes, it is very like 'memorised') and also, in the next line, I think 'blended' would make all the difference to 'blanded'. What a difference one letter makes!!
But enough of the detail, overall, this is really good. I have always been capitivated by the poem 'The Lady of Shalott', by Alfred Lord Tennyson. We studied it at school, and I also went on a trip to the Tate Gallery, to see the painting by John William Waterhouse. And I bought a postcard of it, which I still treasure.
The stanza, that for me, really brings this poem to life:-
"The twist is...if it had poured with rain
this young man's wonderful skill
would have all been washed away.
Really well done on this one. You have excelled;-)
