I sit, gaze and dream
Lulled by the uneven rhythm
Hypnotised by telegraph wires
My window framing a world
Of swooping fields
Damp ridged earth
Blue sky hemmed by clouds.
I revel in the luxury,
The bliss of being in between here and there.
Time to sit, gaze and dream.
And when a train passes by
In flashes of steel, glass and light
There’s a brief sense of connection
To those travelling in another direction.
We stare and pass by
Intent on our journeys
Locked in our several worlds
Sitting, gazing and dreaming.

A beautiful thing to read
A beautiful thing to read first thing in the morning before getting on the train, the best way to take it. Thanks!

I wanted to add before
I wanted to add before rushing out that I think lines like 'Damp ridged earth' and 'Locked in our several worlds' put some serious gravity into this piece that keeps it from just floating away, although there's nothing wrong with just floating away, um...

I think as much as we can
I think as much as we can and should float away, there is this gravity whether we prefer it or not. Read the cherry picks, they’re making note of it.
